Various other tipps

Everyone can save energy and resources - be it for reasons of climate protection, or just to save money. You too.

On average, every German is responsible for the release of 10t of CO2 per capita and per year. In comparison, that is 6x as much as an Indian.

Regardless of the motives, everyone can significantly reduce their personal footprint, be it in terms of CO2, water consumption or resource use in general, with simple means.

Echo-friendly routing

Use newly introduced navigation methods when driving cars with combustion engines.

Google just recently introduced this feature and it displays fuel-efficiency estimates on some routes: Turn eco-friendly routing on or off on your Google Maps app

Question your mobility

Do you really need a second car? Do you even need a car? But you cannot do without a car, right?

Many people did not think at first that they would be able to cope without a car and are now more than happy to have discovered a different/new mobility. Especially in larger cities, there are now so many offers of alternative mobility: public transport, car sharing, e-scooters, rental bicycles, etc. - you just have to dare ;-)

Re-use

Even today, the use of cloth napkins is a feature of good restaurants. The paper napkin, on the other hand, is more for fast and cheap food. When and why did we forget to reusing things as often as possible?

Using again instead of buying new is a quality feature, also of your lifestyle.

Recycling wins

An incredible number of goods are packaged in a more cumbersome and comprehensive way than it makes functional sense.

When buying, pay attention to how well the packaging and a broken product can be recycled.

Reduce food waste!

In Germany, more than 18 million tons of food end up in the bin every year - 34t every minute. Buy more conscious groceries so that you no longer have to throw away as much, or better yet, nothing at all.

Today, every child already knows that the best-before date is not a fixed throwaway date. However, it is even better not to have bought so much in the first place that the MHD becomes relevant for you. Shop carefully and even share leftover groceries with others.

Repair instead of throwing away

Your TV is unexpectedly defective or your 6-year-old washing machine no longer warms the water?

Even if it seems easier and better to buy a new device at first glance, even costly repairs are more sustainable. Every device consumed a lot of resources during production that we shouldn't throw away carelessly. Check the repairability when you buy it.

Shared use

Do you really need your own lawn mower or drill? There are so many things we buy and the 363 days a year just lie around uselessly and steal space.

Why not share things and help each other out? This not only protects the environment, but also your wallet.

Upcycling

Recycling is good, but it is still not optimal. Can used things perhaps be used for other purposes?

A simple example is empty jam jars, which you can reuse for storing screws. When buying, think about what you could do with the product after its primary use.

Use things for a long time

Do you really need a new phone, or a new car? Each commodity has consumed a lot of resources in production and the longer you use the things, the better the life cycle assessment of the products becomes.

Make it a quality feature of your lifestyle and one of your virtues to be a ""keeper."" Of course, new products have cool new features, but do you really use them and do you really need them now?
